Contemporary dance is a popular and exciting dance genre that developed during the mid 20th century in Central Europe and the USA. Contemporary dance in Britain grew and developed from Modern dance in the USA strongly influenced from great pioneers of this genre such as Martha Graham, Jose Limon, Merce Cunningham amongst others.
At KBDA, we offer Rambert Grades Contemporary classes from Year 2 where we explore the fundamental building blocks of Contemporary Dance. In addition to developing students’ creativity & improvisation skills, we explore the technique through a set of themes including contractions, spirals, and the use of gravity, weight and suspension. There is also a strong focus on expression and individuality.
